Abstract

Tuberculosis remains a problem that must be addressed immediately in the community. This is
because the spread is fairly easy, namely through the coughing splash when not using a mask. In tackling
this disease, the government has implemented treatment programs and prevention programs that are in
line with national standards. One of them is being done by the Surabaya City Health Office by forming a
peer educator to help control tuberculosis in the city of Surabaya. The focus of this research is the
implementation of peer educator activities in supporting tuberculosis prevention programs in Surabaya,
supporting and inhibiting factors, and evaluating these activities. Sources of information using
purposive sampling and accidental sampling. This research uses qualitative research methods, where
data search through interviews and data processed with qualitative descriptive methods. Data analysis
techniques using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study,
with the presence of peer educators is very helpful in the supervision of treatment of tuberculosis
patients. In addition, the purpose of peer educator visits also provides motivation so that patients can
complete their treatment. To maximize peer educator activities, it is necessary to increase the number of
visits so that patient treatment can be completed.
