Abstract

This article aims to reveal the meaning of ambivalence of gender partiality in novel Larung by Ayu
Utami. By using Derrida's deconstruction study, it is understandable that oppositions are not fully
engaged in the movement of women. The tendency is seen in how the text presents women as aggressive,
active, attacking, abusive, cruel, and ultimately back to the concept of Freud's Fallus. The sacrifice of
Adnjani's grandmother in protecting the family ends is not happy. In Yasmin there is a crusial moment of
the reversal of the hierarchy of men who seem to be women who are superior to men but reaffirms the
patriarchal idea by thwarting Yasmin against the fallus. This model of feminist movement in this text
leads more to the mastery of the arena of sexuality than any other. From the mastery of the arena of
sexuality can be concluded the concept of feminism for urban women is not solid because in the end
always oriented to sexual activity.
