Abstract

The village head is a leader who has the authority of the government of the regent to handle some
regional autonomy matters. One of them was in Semambung Village, Gedangan District, which was led
by a female village head for the first time in more than 30 years led by a male village head. The purpose of
this thesis is to find out the leadership role of the female village head in improving the performance of
Semambung Village employees and to find out the factors to improve the performance of Semambung
Village employees. The type of scientific work used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data
collected through interviews and documents. The results and discussion show that the leadership role of
the female village head in improving the performance of Semambung Village employees is already good,
seen from (1) the role of the catalyst, creating new programs, (2) the role of the facilitator, facilitating the
work of employees (3) the role of problem solver, having the right in making decisions (4) the role of
source liaison, has a liaison role in solving problems and (5) the role of communicator, good
communication between superiors and subordinates. The factors of the role of the village head in leading
Semambung Village include (1) individual factors, (2) psychological factors, and (3) organizational
factors.
