Abstract

Community relations activities are kind of activities of establishing good relationships with the surrounding community. Community in this research means relations activity BNN Surabaya City through cadre of Surabaya anti-drugs. Researcher will discuss how BNN Surabaya build a good relationship with the people through the cadre of Surabaya anti-drugs, and about the problem that faced in doing community relations activities. This research use descriptive qualitative method and using qualitative data analysis technique according to Miles and Huberman (1994), which include data reduction, data presentation, and verification.The results of the research in the discussion can be concluded that the activities of BNN Community Relations Surabaya through the cadre of anti-drugs, include: (1) gathering facts, including drug cases, location, and environmental conditions of the community; (2) Formulation of Problems, by reviewing existing facts and gathering information from surrounding communities; (3) Planning and Programming, define activities and how to carry out such activities and complement the needs of the activities; (4) Action and Communication, preactivity briefing, messages communicated to the public include the dangers of drugs, prevention, fortification and follow-up on narcotics issues; (5) Evaluation, community relations activities that have been done can be said to be successful and give good influence to the community, the lack of this activity is the difficulty of changing the mindset of the user, the fact finding is less profound, less specific in the formulation of the problem. For the improvement of the cadres should continue to train and learn, always communicate with the components involved, more excited and keep looking for information from friends, institutions, and the media.
Benefit from this activity the public will understand the dangers of drugs, can protect themselves and family, and find solutions of drug problems faced. Organizations, will be easier to recognize, have many relationships, and can train their ability in public speaking and knowledge about drugs. several obstacles facing anti-drug cadres are lack of human resources, minimal budget, and difficulty adjusting in conveying information.
